Agie AC100 program issue after E-stop

$

I have started having an issue with my AC100 after it has been shut down on the E-stop.

When I start it back up all of the cut and flush data are still present and I can see it but the PSM and the OPM buttons will not work so I can't start the machine or do anything.

The first inclination is to push the E-stop and try again. When you do that the machine loses everything and but then all the buttons work and I have to re-enter all the data, home the machine on all axis and square the wire and I am good to go again.

That is a real bummer to say the least.

After a few times of doing that I have discovered that if I use the key to reset the control instead of hitting the E-stop again I lose all of the cut and flush data and have to re-enter it but I do not lose the locations information so the machine does not have to be homed on all the axis and the wire does not have to be re-squared and also the wire counter does not lose its data.

I replaced the program battery right off, do you have any ideas what might cause something like this to happen.

Thanks Gary

Help with Charmilles Roboform 200 Proform Program

$

Hi All,

It's been awhile since I ran my sinker, and I seem to have a problem
with my problem.

I am just trying to burn out a tap in material that is .57" thick.

I have it in English units.

My electrode is graphite (EL 2) and my part is steel (PA 6).

I am using .TEC file UGRAC.tec (graphite/steel).

My Proform Program:

1: FROM/X,0,Y,0,Z,.035
2: axe/Z
3: DOWN/L,-.570,H,-.002,E,243,RET
4: END

My electrode starts out .035" from the top surface.

It goes down ever so little and quits with no errors, so
I think it thinks it's finished the job.

What have I done wrong???

Many thanks for any help with this.

Regards,

Paul

If so, does anyone have a copy that I could get?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Wire edm job pricing

I have a bit of experience with small feature edm work. Short run stuff that aren't big parts. But I have some profiles that i need done that i feel like I'm being quoted way way high.

So. The stock is 3.6 x 10 x 13. I need to sit the stock in the the machine with the 10.inch dim being the height. Essentially i need to cut the plate in half in the 13 inch vector so that i end up with 2 plates 1.8" thick. It's also a mold parting line so. . 001/-.001 is good. . 0005/-.0005 is better.. (even one thou may be over kill in my opinion but it's what the builder requested.

So anyone have a ball park way to price this out?

Now let's assume you need to make a profile that adds a couple of curves and roughly 2 inches to the cut length. How much would that add to it?

When trying to run a cut on our 640cc the machine keeps coming up with the error "wire in short circuit", even when just cutting fresh air, still does edge finds etc fine and also when turning on the electrical touch it is not saying it is in contact with anything have checked the wire is not touching on anything from the reel at the back to the chopper so is this some sort of power issue?

MV2400R Mitsubishi Wire EDM (Using ESPRIT)

I know some of you out there have been running these machines for a while and I am relatively new to Mitsubishi machines.
ESPRIT just happens to be what we are using to program.

Please state what you or your company makes and then please add a useful tip or some experience.

The reason for the intro is to give a basic understanding of the types and accuracy of the components your making, obviously some will be working to higher precision than others but the main goal is to have a database of specific tips about this series of machines.

Here goes:

Our company makes clutch plates and transmission components, our main concern is keeping a steel stamping production floor in operation. We run 3 shifts which means repairing tools and maintaining presses on the fly.

The tool-room, where I live, produces the die sets to cut the clutch profiles and blank them out. The clearance between punch and die in our case is between 0.003" to 0.006" on most parts. Its roughly 8% of the steel core cross section.

We had been using a SODICK A530D (1986) and a FANUC Alpha-1C (1996) we were using SurfCAM and AutoCAD mechanical in 2009 everything changed as we became TS certified (some of you know what I am talking about!) After a few company audits and some PPAPS we realized we need more reliable tools so ESPRIT was purchased Autodesk(R) Inventor(R) was acquired and a brand new Mitsubishi MV2400 was purchased.

Some of my Issues (Machine only) are:

1. When do I use Optimum, Varying, or 3D-PM power master settings.
2. Can someone talk about the feed-rate adjust and when to use it.
3. Some of my parts have cavities inside them, how do I prevent wire breakage and yet maintain a reasonable cutting time.
4. We are cutting mainly carbon steel but sometimes chromium based metals, I get a lot of rust when the parts are complete. Is there any good rust inhibitors which won't ruin the machine or the parts to any significant degree.
5. Service - Last time we had a PM visit the tech left a lot of loose screws and unfixed items, is that common anyone else have issues like that.
6. We are currently doing 1 rough and 4 skims using the supplied E-packs which is fine on our smaller diameter dies and punches but adds a lot of time on larger profiles, however we would like to cut out any skims we don't need.

Additionally (ESPRIT):

1. I want to turn adaptive control off on my rough cut and have it come back on during the skimming without creating a separate process (not a big deal making the process isn't that difficult, but still you should be able to do that).

Hopefully there will be more that comes up in the discussion, please don't be condescending not everyone knows what you know!

How much do you guys leave for spring cuts?

Hi all,

Ok so after getting the old fanuc going I have at last got some work (paying work at least not in house stuff) for it. The first one was easy, off the shelf punches so I just had to cut the punch holder, stripper and die. I cut the stripper and die bolted together and then the holder after so I could get a nice tight fit. This was easy because I just used the same program and offset less for the holder. I had to get roughly 0.15 clearance in the die and cut it in one go on size holding the drop out with a magnet.

The next job was a bit trickier. Already heat treated 476 to cut a punch 70mm long and 102mmx12mm. It took loooong but I got it done. Now I am in the process of cutting the die, it is K110 which is pretty much the same material as 476, already heat treated. So I used the same program, obviously offset in the opposite direction, as the punch and just offset less so I could creep up on the size. I don't want too much clearance on the die because it will be punching out fabric so it needs to be pretty neat. After the first cut I measure it and it was pretty close to the punch size so I offset 0.1mm per side more and ran it again. It was sparking a tiny bit intermittently and when it finished it had not really cut much off. I am currently running it again with a 0.15mm extra offset and it is sparking more. So my main question is am I leaving the right amount to skim cut? The thickness of the cut is roughly 30mm because I have already milled the clearance on the back for the slugs.

Agie wire removal system

I have an Agie 150 HSS and sometimes the wire being transferred to the chopper will protrude out the side of the belts it is sandwiched in between. When it is just a small loop it doesn't really affect anything but larger ones arc to the machine and occasionally get hung up. The frequency seems to decrease as the cut proceeds. The machine came with a partial spool of 10 mil wire and this problem didn't show up until switching to 12 mil wire. Any suggestions where the problem might be would be very much appreciated.

Is anyone else running SL machines have a laggy control? Sodick has done a couple software updates but hasn't really helped. Just wondering if it's a software issue or just our machine. Thanks for any input.

question on 3R tooling

I recently came across an older easco/chevalier/Taiwan DM-323 sinker edm machine on CL. It came with a system 3R chuck and electrode holder. the electrode holder is 20mm in diameter, has an O-ring on top, and is through drilled for flushing the swarf away. This holder fits snuggly in the chuck but it slips out with little effort. It seems there must be a way to tightly secure the electrode holder in the chuck to keep it from moving freely during machine operation and or pressure from the flushing liquid. How is the electrode holder secured? Click image for larger version.

Fanuc Robocut Alpha 0B with Fanuc Series 16-W control

$

Hi, this is my first post.

We are a small machine shop company located in Mexico, close to the USA border, and we have a few CNC mills, CNC lathes and EDM equipment.

One of these EDM machines ia a Fanuc Robocut Alpha-0B and its Fanuc Series 16-W controller.

I'm looking for PDF maintenance manuals for this equipment and its Fanuc controller.

The information I got from its plate is:

Fanuc Robocut Alpha-0B
Type A04B-0303-B001 #USA
No. P9510B154, Date: 1995-2
Made in Japan

the other information that I'm looking for, is what compact flash cards/capacities are compatible with its A16B-3200-0090 16 WB Main PCB PC Card slot.

We currently have a 1GB Kensington compact flash card and PC Card adapter that we use on a Fanuc Series oi Mate-TC controller used on a CNC lathe equipment, but when I insert this CF card into the A16B-3200-0090 PC card slot, start the Fanuc Series 16-W into the boot menu and using the front panel try to format it, I get the following error:

Memory Card is Not Available. Hit Sel.

Which is described in another Fanuc Maintenance Manual as:

"The use of this memory card is not supported. Use only FANUC recommended memory cards, as described in the order list"

(I don't have this machine's specific order list).

I've tried reducing the active partition from 1GB to 512mb, then to 256mb, but I still get the error indicated before.

After reading some old posts in this forum, I see that the user Milacron has an equipment which is similar to ours.

Thank you in advance.

Another Agie wire system question

$

This is on an HSS 150 machine. If I stop during a cut or any time with the wire intact the belt system that pulls the wire through and routes it to the chopper stops running as well, as it basically has to. However, if I cut the wire the belt system keeps running indefinitely so long as the machine is still on. Is there a way to make it stop or is the obvious answer just leave the wire threaded?
