Reading / Loading Mitsubishi fx20 Disks

I have recently purchased on older fx20, and am new to wire cutting. It came with the USB /floppy emulator from Mits. However before I had the machine moved I tried to make a parameters copy. I have a file but can't tell if it's all correct.

I also have the floppy disks for the e-packs and pitch error. I can load the main system software into the controller from the USB but I'm not sure my downloaded file is correct and would like to try to load the floppies. I know that the disk format is CP/M so I can't really read the disk other wise I would just copy to the USB and load it that way.

My question is can I unplug the USB emulator and add a floppy drive in it's place to read the disks? Or is it a propriety floppy as well to read the CP/M format?

Any help would be great

Thanks

Hi guys,

Looking for a manual on Sodick's built in CAM - Heart NC.

Specifically, the potion on programming "gear wheels" I'm trying to replicate a part for a buddy on the side and would like to use the built in generator if possible.

Mits RA-90 Guide Pipe not going back up after autothread

Hello, I'm fairly new to Wire Edm and I'm having a problem with my RA-90, when I autothread the wire will thread fine and go through everything great but when the wire is done being threaded the guide pipe stays down and air keeps shooting out of it. I asked my service guy what to do and he told me to adjust the pipe holder in the back of the machine but after fiddling for an hour and a half I can't seem to get it to work. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be? Just keep adjusting and testing or could it be something else?

Anyone familiar with multiple parts on a Robocut with Fanuc 31i-W control?

I have a bunch of parts to make and there's room to fit 3 or 4 plates up there and let them run over night.
They would all have different rotations though, I don't see any place to enter that info, only the main rotation which applies to everything.

Can this be done with a macro? Pick up each part and maybe with a G79(?) change the rotation before each part runs?

Or if I know what that angle for each is can I use a some g code to change the main rotation for each part before it runs?

Thanks

Fanuc edge finding problem.

I have a 2000 model Fanuc A-0ic with AWT that I am having an edge-finding issue with. It has always performed edge finding accurately up until Monday.
Most of the time it will repeat within .0001, now it won't repeat within .002 and is sometimes throwing Alarm 67 "Measuring Error".
Has anyone dealt with this before? Suggestions? Details below.

Material: Any I have tried.
Wire:Hard Brass Electro-cut .010 diameter
Guides:New(less than 10 hrs)
Power feed contacts: New 20 hours ago, just cleaned and indexed yesterday.
Resistivity: 5.0

Already tried: Indexed brake wheel, cleaned lower ceramic roller(checked bearings too), checked all bearings for wire rollers(Replaced two bearings-I thought it might be wire flutter), checked pinch rollers, cleaned lower water jet tube, cleaned and re-attached table grounds.

Wire EDM accuracy

Hi,

We have new Sodick ALC600G (Europe market) machine.
We need to make example go no go gauges with the machine but accuracy is not enought.
Example in Ø50mm (2") hole roundness was 2,5μm (0,00001"), hole is oval/ellipse. This hole is measured by roundness measuring machine.
How accuracy new machine should be?
Did somebody else make roundness measuring of cutted workpiece?

Also Im interested what is best way to make approach to precise round hole, straight or with radius?

Help with Agie Progress V3

Hello.

We have one Agie Progress V3. But the machine have problems with the water level.

When we start to Run it, we put the Z Axis in to low position but the machine shows us a message in order to close the Second door because the water level needed is too high, and is a mistake. Even do we close it and it start to fill, but it never stop.

We changed potentiometer, Board ADC-18 and the Board DBE-10 ( Manufacture Recommendation) but the problem continues.

Do you have any idea about what else can we do?

Thanks.

Regards.

Mits MV1200 Threading Issue

The company I work for bought a new MV about 7 months ago and since we've put about 1500 hours on it. The issue is as of semi recently at around 30-35 hours into a maintenance cycle the wire begins to hang up on the lower guide C right after the carbide it appears. with the old 110 ha we had tons of issues with threading but this machine has been a dream until now. I clean all the diamonds with an ultrasonic and ac500 every 80-100 hours generally depending on how its running and threading. Am I missing something in my maintenance routine or any other tips and tricks to make this issue subside?

Thanks

thicker wire = faster cutting speed?

I've been given the task to wire a number of 6.9mm holes but the wire I'm using is 0.15 cobra A cut and the material height I'm cutting is 24.9 mm but it seems to be take about an hour with 5 cuts. I was thinking whether I should use 0.25 wire instead to increase my cutting speed. I also have to wire a 5 degree taper but I noticed I always get a wire mark on the inside of the hole. I have tried playing the power settings but I always get that same wire mark. I have thought about playing with the offset on the main cut but I'm clueless.
I did have a number of notes for wiring on the agie charmille classic V2 but I dumped them when I left the company, didn't think id ever come back. stopped using EDM wiring for over 3 years. any help would be very much appreciated.

thankyou

Fanuc W1 Taper Cutting

$

Hi all.
Looking for some help machining an internal tapered gear using a Fanuc W1 EDM.
I have managed to create a program using AutoCAD just tracking the points of the gear, using G90 (absolute) coding and then tracking the difference between the top and bottom forms using V and U.
A sample of that: Y.4635 X.0196 V.146 U.0062
4 lines to describe the gear tooth on a sub-program and then use an M98 and Q figure to duplicate. It worked, the graph shows both the top and bottom forms properly and the length.

Then I come to setup the taper cutting on the machine. I have never taper cut before so am learning from the ground up and using the manual. But the manual is a translation from the Japanese so it doesn't exactly work grammatically.

I need some information on how to setup the taper screen (Set/Taper) where you change the taper cutting data. (I tried to change to simple taper cutting but it only came up with a 40 alarm)
What cutting mode do I use for instance? Is it just 1 for taper cutting or 10 for direct instruction of the UV axis?
Do I need to use G51/2 if I'm using an NC style of program?
Any other things I might need to know?
I can post some images if needed.

Any information you can spare would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Chris.

Mitsubishi FX20 - problem after relocation, upper head float alarm

$

Hello all

we bought mits fx20 1997, in seller's garage the machine was working. After relocation and installing machine we have problem with alarm "U730 T/C in wasser 0000" which inform that upper head is in water or there is a problem with float in upper head. I checked the wires and float, it's ok, cables from float to board are in good condition and when i move float up and down the state on connector (that goes to SIFA board) changes. So the float and wires are ok.
Software was reinstalled.

1. We don't have any diagrams and other service manuals, only programming manual. Maybe somebody have some docs or knows where get them?
2. There are addresses in machine software with input/output bit map (1/0) but i didn't find correct address that shows the state of the float/limit switches or other inputs which are in connector M1 so i didn't check what is the state of float in machine controller. If somebody have correct bit map to FX machine could share it?
3. Any ideas what can i check?

Best regards

Logical Mits DWC 90-H troubleshooting method

$

I have a Mits DWC90-H wire EDM and she has been running fine, and has been quite a workhorse. I walked in the shop one day, and I got the dreaded "W7 SYSTEM NOT READY" screen. We had lost power for a while, so I knew that the battery was probably dead and I replaced it.

I went to load the parameters via external floppy (as always) and I was getting a communication error on the floppy screen.

I picked up a cheap FX01 board from EBAY and it seemed to fix the problem. I could now load the parameters, and it appeared to "take it".

I shut the machine off and rebooted as instructions say, but it does not seem to "retain" the parameters.

Next, I had a friend send me a FX14 board that he readily told me was NOT verified, but that I could try it. The alternate FX14 board rendered the same results.

Could one of you DWC Gurus out there give me a guiding hand? I want to logically trouble shoot this step by step until I track down the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
