Sinker EDM oil recommendations

$

A friend of mine has an old sinker he uses fairly regularly. The oil is pretty old and is thinking the oil needs replaced. Somewhere along the line North American EDM supplies contacted him. They recently contacted him again with sale pricing on their oil.

They offer a general purpose oil, a semi synthetic, and a synthetic.

Skin irritation is a big concern. Only the synthetic notes "will not irritate ... skin"

Has anyone heard of or dealt with this company? A google search turns of nothing on PM and little elsewhere.

Sale price on 55gal of the general purpose is $618, my inclination, for as little as he burns anymore, this will suit him fine and last him the rest of his life.

I'm hesitant with the semi or full synthetic as he wouldn't have the time to do a full system clean. I've read that is a must.

Formating disc problems for Mitsubishi FX10/20

Hello, my Mitsubishi takes the 3M DS/DD disc and I think mine has finally taken it's last breath. The person who used to handle the formatting of the disc has retired and traveling the US. LOL Anyways, my computer says Windows can't open or format my new disc. I can do it at the machine but then when I try to save something from the computer to disc to put on machine it won't let me and says it needs to be formatted but then wont format it. Could it be that the new Windows is not able to format such ancient type of disc or is there some magic way to do it? I'm stuck entering all programs by hand at the moment but there is too much room for error and time consuming. HELP!

Thanks,

EDM RAM - Mult Machines Take different Times to Run Same Job

Hello all. Relatively new to EDM. I am running (3) identical Mitsubishi FP80V RAM's. One of them takes at least 20 minutes longer to run the identical job. Even Mitsubishi can't figure out why. So I am doing the SMART thing and going to the experts! Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Used Sinker advice needed. We are considering Sinker EDM as a
first EDM machine. Looking at Used Charmilles Roboforms, and Eltee Pulsitron TR21.
Vectoring (Orbital) is a requirement. We have a repeat job that needs it. We also do
a lot of difficult materials (Tungsten, Molybdenum, Inco 718,
conductive ceramics/Carbon fiber) And difficult features (Ø.07" to Ø.020" deep holes)
We are getting too many no-bids, or grief from our usual edm shops, so it is time to
bring it in-house.

Charmilles:
As far as I know, Agie/Charmilles no longer supports this machine (Roboform).
So do you guys have an alternative support source you can recommend? Parts,
power supplies, etc. We do our own maintenance on the cnc mills & lathes. But
edm is a different animal. Just not sure this right first edm. I know Charmilles
is top notch, just not sure about Agie. If we already had a Charmilles in the shop,
I would not hesitate at all.

The orbital is in the control. How well does this work, or is it flaky?
Is it software driven? Does it require upgrades/support from Agie/Charmilles
to keep working? Is the orbital an option from charmilles, that they can drop
with an upgrade? Is the orbital option parameter enabled? In other words,
if the control batteries are dead, will Agie require $$$$ to enable the option again?

Eltee:
I am familar with this machine as my favorite EDM shop has shut down,
and are selling everything. Eltee support is from the one guy in New Jersey.
How reliable it that? Same question as above. It has the vectoring head
(Orbital) I believe this is a System3R upgrade. But could be wrong on that.
I believe the vector head is controlled from the Fanuc/Sytem 3R separate control.
Anyone here with experience with the Eltee. Guy who owns it is the best edm guy
I have EVER met, and says the Eltee ran circles around all the other machines in
its heydey.

Comments? Is the Charmilles what you would buy as a first & only EDM?

Hi , i am new in this field . i work on a wire and on a sink machine and i will start to use a fast punch hole machine also
the wire machine is an AgieCharmilles CUT E350 , i work with the machine for about three months , so if i would have to make a list with the problems i had/have ( from lack of experience ) i wouldn't know where to start
i work with visi peps , i had to make a program for a 165 mm height but i couldn't because the wire i use has a maximum of 100 usage problem is that i have to "postprocess" that difference , what i did isn't showing an improvement so far
or i have too high expectations
threading wire at this high with tank filled is also on luck

material Steel 165 mm
wire AC CUT VS 900 0,25 ( this supposed to be an alternative ( according to the seller ) for big height but on postprocessor is maximum 100 mm )
i normaly use AC Brass 900 0,25
any help would do

thanks

Chmer Wire EDM Sample program.

Hi All,

We have just obtained a new Chmer GX650L wire EDM. Upon running a couple of jobs, I find it frustrating that we have to use "local Origin" points. Is there any easier way to do this?

I am used to running with different work offsets like G54,G55 etc. I am being told the CHMER supports this.

Please can you let me know how ? Would you also be able to a share a sample code how I can use the G54,G55 ? The present output I am getting from my post from Mastercam is as follows :

System 3r 3r-272hp leveling adapter, adjustment screw issues.

$

Hello,

The shop I started work in 2 months ago uses 2 System 3r 3R-272hp leveling adapters for holding certain parts while cutting.

3R-272HP, Levelling adapter, WEDM - System 3R - The leading supplier of productivity-enhancing tools and methods for the Manufacturing industry

both adapters have one adjustment screw, the same one, that is super tight and hard to adjust. Moving with a stick slip type movement.

Making fine leveling adjustments very very hard.

We have tried cleaning the screws, even a bit of anti sieze for the threads to no avail.

Does anyone know or have access to any documentation that might point to what we are either doing wrong or maintanece we need to perform on them?

Seibu Wire EDM?

I am looking to purchase a new wire EDM machine and I have heard really good things about Seibu through word of mouth and the specifications look good. In particular, I am interested in the machine because of its accuracy and core stitch feature. I was just wondering if anybody had any experience with the brand and could let me know if it is worth getting. I found a lot of information about the line here KGK International Corp. and saw a demo here IMTS218 Master Seibu Demo Video - YouTube, but I would love to hear from someone with first hand knowledge.

does anyone use Opticam?

I have a question about Opticam wire. Is there a way to program a "slow start" or a "gentle start" due to poor flushing? I know I can do it manually by sitting at the machine and turning the on time down untill I get into the work, just wondering if there was a way for the program to do this for me? I can't call Opticam because I quit paying the maintaince on the program and they're real fussy about not helping anyone not current on their maintaince.

Mitsubishi Chiller Error -E2

We have Fx-20 wire EDM with a HE-UV3 Chiller on it. I am getting an E2 error code on the unit. Not sure what this means as I don’t have any documentation for the chiller.

If anyone knows what might be the issue or where to start looking I’d appreciate it.

Thanks

Is there any information on lubricants/neverseize that can be safely used with wire EDM and intank vise and clamping?

Example, we have 3 System 3r 3r-272hp leveling units. The screws really need to be lubricated, what lube can we safely use?

Agiecut 200D erros 1491 and 180

$

Hello. I need help.
Recently I faced a problem with our Agiecut 200D. There is an errors 1491 - "Mains failure or voltage too low" and 180 - "CNC not ready for start" immediately after start-up. I think that 1491 is a first trouble to be solved but maybe I'm wrong.
In description of error 1491 I found that a problem in a voltages of LPS-20 and SUS-02/25 boards. I checked all the voltages on inputs and outputs of that boards and they all is in right range.
I noticed a DCLOW signal (from voltage comparators) that comes out from board SUS-25 (P2) and both of LPS-20 (P22 and P30). The DCLOW is a low active, i.e. 0VDC when there is an error. The DCLOW signals from these boards are combined and lead to other boards SBC-08 (P3), KCB-04 (P1) and DWC-05 (P23). I checked a level of voltage of the DCLOW and it's a 5.03 VDC.
I cut a wire from pin P2-19 (DCLOW) of SBC-08 board and tried to start-up the machine but nothing happend. Machine is started-up in the same state with the same errors 1491 and 180. Because of this I suspect the SBC-08 board to wrong interpet a DCLOW signal from LPS and SUS. There is a voltage supervisor on the SBC-08 board (MAX681).
Now I understand that it was not enough just to cut off the wire. It was necessary to pull the signal down to the ground.:scratchchin:
And my question is: Only the SBC-08 board affects 1491 error generation or other two board KCB-04 and DWC-05 can also be the cause if the DCLOW has a HIGH level signal?

Does anyone here have a very good understanding of the parameter settings and what they actually do? The settings I'm referring to are when you are in user mode expert ce/service. The Machine is a 2015 form 20 edm sinker. If anyone does I will be more specific on which parameters. Thanks in advance

Brother HS-50A - I/O Timeover 4 error

$

Guys, just hoping someone might have some insights on this problem.

The machine runs fine, then all of a sudden out of the blue I get this:
5037 - I/O TIMEOVER 4 error.

Power off, Power on, start machining, and it goes just fine again for .. well sometimes the rest of the night, other times for an hour, or perhaps a few minutes.

Power cycle again, restart and goes fine again ...

Rinse and repeat.

According to the Maintenance Manual, the error means:
Framing error occurred during communication between DC PCB and NC unit.
1: External noise
2: Faulty DC PCB or cable connection.

Now, I have done the obvious unplug, reconnect, reseat etc of cables and boards.
I also have no "noisy" machines anywhere, let alone near the EDM.

I know it's a long shot ( being a Brother and long-gone EDM line, but has anyone ever seen this or have any idea perhaps?

Thank You
